You will sometimes see reference to a 'date code' this refers to when the appliance was manufactured, This is part of the serial number of the appliance and is the first two digits
i.e. If the serial number is 24568597, the date code is '24'

Washing machines and washer dryers
These are mainly located on the inside of the door frame on sticker together with the serial number
Tumble dryers
These are mainly located on the inside of the door frame on sticker together with the serial number
Dishwashers
Sometimes the number is engraved on the top of the stainless steel door liner, or sometimes on the side of the door liner
Fridges and freezers
Normally located behind the salad drawers or on the roof of the fridge or freezer liner
Ovens and cookers
Often located on the plynth or inside the door glass of freestanding cookers, sometimes on the door frame of built in appliances
